After a longer season in London, society desires a more relaxing environment. Bath invites them with its relaxing spa and promise of rejuvenation. This is a time for smaller, intimate balls and gatherings. It is the time for society to escape politics and recover from the London Season- which rings truer this year than the last as an illness is sweeping London, sending its residents clamoring to escape the city.

The Gentry and the well-to-do retreat to their country residences during the Hunting Season to enjoy sport and take refuge during the winter months.
